Volute Bench
Prominent circular elements in the
bench’s upper corners are reminiscent
of the volute detail which consists of
spiral scrolls on the capitals of Ionic
and Corinthian columns. This similarity resulted in naming the piece the Volute. Focus on the cylindrical features on each end is amplified by the intersecting legs which terminate in concentric half rounds. The Volute is made of thirteen ply maple plywood.
